Deciduous small shrub. Young shoots downy. Leaves pinnate, 3-10 cm long, with 1-3 pairs of sessile, elliptic or ovate, lateral leaflets, dark green above, paler and wooly beneath. Small white flowers about 1 cm across, in terminal corymbs, in April-May. Fruit globular, red. Very Hardy.
