A small tree with glabrous, reddish shoots. Leaves 4-7.5 cm long with red stalks. The leaves are coarsely toothed or 3- to 5-lobed, glossy green, turning bright yellow in autumn. The leaves look a little like ivy. The tree are of dense, twiggy growth. A very attractive species with lobed and toothed leaves.
