A medium-sized, suckering tree of conical habit. Leaves vary from ovate to obovate with cuneate base, entire or with 1 or 2 conspicuous lobes. Dark green above, rather glaucous or pale green beneath, colouring attractively yellow and scarlet in autumn. Greenish-yellow flowers appearing in April or May.
