Grossulariaceae
Ribes speciosum(51077 bytes)
A medium-sized, evergreen shrub. Stems with prickles, reddish-bristly. The leaves are rounded, 3-5 lobed. The beautiful red flowers are like flowers of Fuchsia magellanica. They are borne in pendulous clusters during April and May. The shrub looks at its best, if it's growing at an espalier.
