Small deciduous shrub with climbing shoots. Trifoliate leaves up to 25 cm long. Leaflets ovate to rhombic, 5-15 cm long, 3-10 cm wide, entire. The terminal one is stalked, lateral ones are nearly sessile. Lamina dull green and glabrous above, paler beneath with tufts of brown hairs at veins base. Small yellowish flowers in axillary panicles in May. Fruits are hispid. Hardy.
