A small, evergreen, climbing or ground covering plant with thick, leathery, oblong leaves, 0.5 cm wide and 0.5 to 1.2 cm long. Margins toothed, glabrous, leaves short stalked. Crimson, tubular flowers with 5 petals, 2.5 cm long appear out of terminal, axillary buds in summer.
