Deciduous tree. Young shoots gray, glaucous. Leaves odd-pinnate, coriaceous, 15-50 cm long. 9-17 leaflets, 3-15 cm long, 1-5 cm wide, ovate to elliptic-lanceolate, long acuminate, serrate with some short awned teeth , glabrous or slightly pubescent on both sides, pubescent on nerves beneath. Rachis reddish with scattered brown hairs. Flowers white in erect & terminal panicles about 20-30 cm long, in June. Fruit globose dark red.
