A small to medium-sized tree with thorny branches. The tree is remarkable for his pale yellow, orange-like fruits. The fruits are built only on mature trees. The leaves are ovate, 6 to 13 cm long, coloured yellow in autumn. The flowers are inconspicious, greenish, dioecious, built in May / June. The male flowers are built in racemes, the female in heads.
