Beautiful palm with a wonderful gray, straight, smooth trunk on older plants, reaching then, 20 m high or more and 0.8-1.1 m of diameter at base. Leaves pinnate, dark green above, lighter beneath, up to 2-4 m long, 50-60 cm wide. Pinnae in groups of 2 along the triangular rhachis. Small yellow flowers. Fruit ovoid, yellow, about 4 cm long with one brown rounded seed inside.
