Hovenia dulcis (37225 bytes)
A large shrub or small tree, until 10 m high. The leaves are alternate, broad-ovate or elliptic, 10-15 cm long, acuminate. The flowers are small, inconspicious, greenish. The fleshy, reddish branches of the inflorescenses are edible, when the black fruits are ripened. The tree is grown in Europe for its polished foliage.
