Small tree up to 6 m high. Opposite, oblong, leathery, entire leaves, 5 cm long, 1.5 cm wide, glaucous beneath, reddish stalked. White, fragrant flowers in leaf axils, 3 cm wide with 4 petals and numerous long stamens with brown antheres appear in May or June. The source of nectar for Tasmanias favourite Leatherwood honey.
