Deciduous tree up to 15 m high. Leaves alternate, elliptic to ovate, 6-15 cm long, 4-7.5 cm wide. Margin entire, apex pointed, base cuneate to rounded. Lamina dark shining green above, paler beneath. Small whitish bell-shaped flowers with 4 reflexed lobes in June. Fruits rounded, 2-4 cm across, yellowish to orange and bloomy. Hardy.
