A medium-sized tree recalling Tilia. The leaves are summer-green, tinged orange and red in autumn. The
leaves of this variety are glabrous, not silky hairy beneath. In May/June there are produced the
inconspicious flowers in heads up to 2.5 cm across. In the heads there is one female flower with many male
flowers. Each head has a pair of unequal white bracts, looking like handkerchiefs. Often you have to wait
perhaps 20 years until the tree is flowering.
