Medium sized, evergreen shrub with erect habit. Ovate, opposite leaves, 2 cm wide, 7.5 cm long, slender pointed, lamina dark green, serrate with pinnate veination, pubescent underneath. Downy twigs with linear texture. Numerous, crimson, drooping flowers, long stalked, 3 cm long, 2 cm wide in spring and during summer. Mucronate fruits, pear-shaped, 3-winged, 1 cm long.
