Climber up to 4 m high with downy shoots. Leaves pinnate with up to three pairs of widely spaced, glaucous grey leaflets, toothed or lobed. Lantern shaped, pale yellow flowers in June, 3 cm wide with recurved petal tips, followed by feathery seed heads.
