Deciduous, dioecious twining shrub with strong brown, angular shoots. Leaves very large, light green, glabrous, ovate to orbicular, 10-18 cm long, 8-14 cm wide. Apex shortly acuminate, margin crenate. Small greenish flowers in terminal panicles. Conspicuous rounded yellow fruits, 1 cm across, three-valved, with bright red seeds inside. Quite hardy.
