Deciduous small tree. Leaves alternate, elliptic, 5-15 cm long, 3-9 cm wide, light green, bristle-toothed, slightly stellate pubescent, apex acuminate, base cunate. Petiole and veins reddish. White flowers about 2 cm long, in corymbose panicles 8-12 cm long in May. Fruit obovoid 5-winged. Hardy.
