Evergreen rounded shrub in Europe, small tree in the wild. Leaves alternate, glabrous, lanceolate, 4-14 cm long, glossy green, finely serrate, covered with translucent glands. Flowers axillary, about 1,5-2 cm across, white spotted with purple, in summer. Fruits oblong, reddish. Tender, only for mildest areas.
