Deciduous shrub (tree in the wild). Young shoots yellow-brown. Leaves 7-25 cm long, 3-8 cm wide, elliptic to oblong lanceolate, margin dentate- mucronate at the end of the veins. Apex pointed, base cuneate to rounded. Leaf blade glabrous and shining green above, paler and hairy on the veins beneath. Flowers yellowish in pyramidal panicles in June.
