Evergreen shrub. Leaves very variable on young plants. Adult ones alternate, lanceolate, 3-15 cm long, 2-5 cm wide, acuminate, glabrous, dentate, light glossy green above, paler beneath. White flowers with 5 petals, up to 2,5 cm across, fragant. Inflorescences in axillary 2-5 flowered cymes in summer.
