Spiny deciduous shrub. Leaves alternate, pinnate, with 2-6 (-8) leaflets, bluish to gray-green, slightly downy. Rhachis spiny. Leaflet oblanceolate, tapered at the base, apex rounded with a small mucron, 2-4 cm long, 3-13 mm wide. Flowers grouped 1-4, pink to violet, 2-2.5 cm long in June. Pod about 2 cm long, inflated. Hardy, good for poor and sandy soil.
