Deciduous small shrub. Leaves alternate, oblong to lanceolate, 7-15 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, dark green and glabrous above, paler and pubescent beneath. Inflorescences in axillary globular heads. Flowers fragant, tubular, 1.5-2 cm long, silky pubescent outside, with four lobes, opening yellow turning whitish later. Flowering in March-April. Could be hardy if planted on a sheltered position like against a south wall.
