Evergreen small shrub up to 1 m high. Leaves crowned around the twigs, oblanceolate, 3-12 cm long, 1-3 cm wide, glabrous, leathery, dark glossy green above, lighter beneath. Lamina narrowed at base. Flowers yellowish-green 8-10 mm long, in dense axillary clusters in February-March. Fruit ovoid, black. Hardy.
