Evergreen shrub or small tree. Leaves alternate, glabrous, elliptic to lanceolate, 3-10 cm long, 1-4 cm wide, toothed, dark glossy green above, paler beneath. Flowers pitcher shaped, white to greenish or pinkish, in terminal panicles, in October-December. Fruits conspicuous, globular, orange-red, rough, up to 2 cm across.
